Rules & FAQ

MDZS Shoujo Mashup is a flexible prompt-based event that will be hosted on Tumblr and BlueSky from May 17-31, 2024.The Mashup is open to any type of creation inspired by MDZS or CQL, from art and fics to threads, podfics, and more! There are no length requirements, and creators can create one main item during the fest, or make multiple contributions throughout the event. It's up to you!Prompts are being revealed weekly, so watch this space, or follow us on Tumblr or BlueSky!Q: What's shoujo?
A: Traditionally, shoujo refers to an editorial category of manga/anime targeted at girls. While shoujo isn't restricted to a specific set of criteria, there are certain tropes and art styles that have become highly associated with these works. Sailor Moon, Fruits Basket, and Boys Over Flowers are examples of some of the most popular shoujo titles. But ultimately, if it's shoujo in your heart, it's shoujo for the purposes of the mashup!During this event, we'll provide prompts with some of the most well-loved shoujo tropes and archetypes to serve as inspiration for your creations.Q: Who can participate?
A: This is an open 18+ event for fans of MDZS and CQL.Q: What ships and characters are included?
A: All MDZS/CQL characters, ships, and dynamics are welcome!Q: Can I collaborate with another creator?
A: Yes! While we won't be pairing teams or facilitating matches, you're welcome to work together with your fellow fans.Q: Can I submit an existing work?
A: No, your submission should be created for this event using the prompt list provided.Q: Can I remix an existing work?
A: Yes! You're welcome to remix your existing work using the prompt list for inspiration!Q: Can I submit a work in a language other than English?
A: Yes! Mods may not be able to vet non-English submissions, but you're welcome to participate.Q: Can I use AI?
A: No, AI is not permitted to be used to create any part of your event submission.Q: When should I post my work?
A: Anytime between May 17-31, 2024.Q: Where should I post my work?
A: Feel free to post to your preferred platform, whether that's AO3, BlueSky, SquidgeWorld, or Tumblr. Don't forget to tag us on BlueSky or Tumblr, or email us if you post on another platform so that we can boost your creation! Following the event, a masterlist of the works created for this event will be posted on Tumblr and on this carrd.Q: Are there any other posting requirements?
A: Please apply all appropriate tags and warnings to your work! Mods may not be able to share your work or add it to the event collection if it isn't appropriately tagged. Please also be sure to use alt text for any images if your platform supports it!

Prompt List

For this event, there will be three prompt lists: setting, trope, and bonus. We encourage you to choose at least one of the items from each list to incorporate into your work but welcome any shoujo-style work!
